SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mercy “Dinkie” Louise Thomas Sanders, 67, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Marion Thomas “Tommy” Sanders, Jr., died peacefully Saturday morning, January 23, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Harold Thomas and the late Mercy Reeves Thomas. Dinkie was a homemaker who suffered many years from long term illnesses. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold “Bubba” Thomas and her beloved aunt and lifetime friend, Marion Lawyer.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Marion Thomas “Tommy” Sanders, Jr.; one daughter, Natasha Sanders; one son, Marion Thomas “Tommy” Sanders III; two sisters, Patricia Lynn and Iris Saxon; one brother, Eddie Thomas, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Monday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.

The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Julie Stanley Mack.  Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
