MARY LOUISE McAFEE

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mary Louise McAfee, 91, of Savannah, Georgia, died Monday evening, July 11, 2011, at Hospice Savannah.

Born in Braddock, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Patrick Meighen and the late Helen Young Meighen. She moved to Savannah with her family where she attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy in 1937. Ms. McAfee was a communicant of Saint Michael Catholic Church and was retired after more than 30 years of service as Branch Manager at the Reynolds Square Office of Savannah Bank & Trust. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Marlin and Anne Braddy.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary E. Watkins and her husband, Lee, of Savannah, Georgia; one son, William H. McAfee and his wife, Joyce, of Flowery Branch, Georgia; one sister, Rose Meighen of Tybee Island, Georgia; six grandchildren, Donna Reynolds, Stephen Patterson, Scott Patterson, Pamela James, Susan Stripling and David McAfee; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Thursday at Gamble Funeral Service – 410 Stephenson Avenue, with the Rosary service being held at 7 o’clock in the funeral home chapel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o’clock Friday morning in Saint Michael Catholic Church conducted by Monsignor P. James Costigan. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
