SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mary Elizabeth Hesling O’Neil, 89, of Savannah, Georgia, died Friday morning, December 24, 2010, at Hospice Savannah.

Mrs. O’Neil was born in Savannah, Georgia on October 17, 1921, and was a lifelong resident. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, a homemaker, and a member of Savannah Square Dancing Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Anthony O’Neil, Sr., and her parents, Richard and Laura Hesling. She was a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are her son, John A. O’Neil, Jr., and his wife, Kitty, of Savannah; three daughters, Barbara O’Neil of Savannah, Sherry Armentor and her husband, Ned, of Plano, Texas, and Connie Shoemaker of Gulf Breeze, Florida; one sister, Minnie Kilpatrick of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Jack O’Neil, Kevin O’Neil and his wife Claire, Patrick O’Neil and his wife Kindall, Paul Armentor, Scott Armentor, Lisa Erwin and her husband, David, and Brian Shoemaker; two great-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Mason O’Neil, and several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held for the immediate family.
