ALMA, GEORGIA - Martha Carol Spivey Speer, 66, of Alma, Georgia, widow of Merrill Aubrey Speer, died Wednesday morning, March 9, 2011, at Bacon County Hospital.

Born in Alma, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Preston Spivey and the late Mary Tyre Spivey.  Mrs. Speer was a member of the Alma Church of Christ and had worked at Jacks Storage Mall in Jacksonville, Florida as storage manager for several years. She was an avid artist and loved to draw and paint. Mrs. Speer loved and adored her two grandsons and never met a stranger. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Edward Spivey.

Surviving are  one daughter, Ashley Julie Speer Crooms and her husband, Jason, of Brunswick, Georgia; two sons, Michael Jason Speer and his wife, Missy, of  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Preston Colby Spivey, of Ludowici, Georgia; one sister, Mary Eanes and her husband, Clarence, of  Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Anthony and Kyle Crooms; two nieces, Cele Tierney and Zan Maxwell; three great nieces and one great nephew.

The funeral service and interment will be private.
