LUCHES BIZZARD

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Luches Bizzard, 95, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Carrie Bell Jackson Bizzard, died Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family and friends and under the care of Odyssey Hospice.

Born in Richmond Hill, Georgia, he was a son of the late Fred Bizzard and the late Julia Adams Bizzard. Mr. Bizzard was a charter member of New Covenant Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he was an active member having served on the Deacons Ministry and several committees. He worked as a mechanic at National Gypsum Company for over thirty-three years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, George Bizzard, James Bizzard, Anthony Bizzard, Eddie Bizzard, Elise Newton and Albertha Dendy.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Carrie Bell Jackson Bizzard of the home; one daughter, Erica Bizzard Grant and her husband, Alphonso, of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Abdul A. “Dean” Fard-Bizzard of Atlanta, Georgia, and Atif Abdul Fard-Bizzard and his wife, Sara, of Savannah, Georgia; one sister, Nevada Jackson of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, Eli Bizzard of Augusta, Georgia; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, and his goddaughter, Lois B. Shields and her husband, Tom.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 Thursday morning in the Savannah West Broad Seventh-day Adventist Church (2501 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard). Interment, with full military honors, will be in Hillcrest Abbey –West.

Deepest Sympathy to Sis. Bizzard and all of the family. You have so many precious memories to recall. Brother Bizzard was a wonderful, wonderful person. He says that he asked the Lord to "make his last days his best days" and that desire was granted. I look forward to seeing him on the resurrection morning.
