JEAN EVANS WATERS

 
     

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Jean Evans Waters, 80, widow of Robert “Lefty” Mohr Waters, Sr., died Saturday afternoon, November 26, 2011, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Port Wentworth after a long illness and under the care of Odyssey Hospice.

Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Robley Daniel Evans and the late Jennie DeSando Evans. Mrs. Waters moved to Savannah in 1943 and lived there for more than sixty years. She was a 1948 graduate of Commercial High School.

Surviving are six children, Gayle Dean of Murphy, North Carolina, Janet Waters of New York, New York, Robert Mohr Waters, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia, Thomas Michael Waters of Savannah, Georgia, James Morgan Waters of Springfield, Georgia, and Lisa W. Ollis of Marietta, Georgia; one brother, Robert D. Evans of Augusta, Georgia; one uncle, Anthony DeSando of Boynton Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Saturday atfternoon, December 10, 2011 at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.

At Mrs. Waters’ request, a private service will be held at a later date.
