John and Mike, I am so sorry to learn of your mother's passing (and I was unaware of your father's prior death, also). She was a lovely lady and I remember her and your dad with great fondness. I babysat for you two when you were little boys living on Grant Ave., not far from where I lived on West Buena Vista Ave. You both were cute and fun kids and I remember you both very well. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. May God give you peace and comfort at this sad time.

Mrs. Suthers' sweet, gentle manner and beautiful smile will always be a part of my memory. She was very kind to my mother, Miriam Hamilton, from Edgefield. I am a long time member of Grace UMC. I can still see Mrs. Suthers coming into church with Mr. Suthers even after he became very ill. The Lord gave us the Suthers' as the finest Christian example of love. May God surround you, now, with His special love.
In Christ's love,
Wilma Allen

John, Michael, Sarah and other Family Members:

On behalf of Mary Lou Woods, Lou Raines, and myself, I wish to express our deepest sympathy to each of you during this time of sorrow. We were privileged to know E.E. (it became customary in nursing school to shorten the names of those we held most dear so this is a term of endearment, love, and respect) as a classmate, roommate, and dear friend. We loved her willingness to accept us as we were, her optimism, and her boundless energy. Our friendship grew through our respective marriages, children, and shared profession She was always so proud of the accomplishments of you two, Johnnie and Michael, and Sarah in your business. Family and friends were central to her life. The love and care exhibited by each of you to E.E. is a testament to her and to you. And what better way to honor thy Mother.

Sincerely,
Mary Lou Woods (Mac), Lou Raines (we couldn't shorten Lou) Hazel Brown Marshall (Haze)

I was so sorry to learn of your Mother's death, and I send you all my sincere sympathy.

Edith was a dear person and I always enjoyed visiting with her and with your Father, Allen, as well. They were faithful members of our church and the Stillwell Class, and we have missed them since Allen's death and Edith's move to Savannah.

I regret I cannot attend the service tomorrow because of an unavoidable conflict, but I will be thinking of all of you and praying for you in your loss.

Sincerely,
Sandra Travis
